Each session has a theme that rotates on a weekly and monthly schedule.

WORKOUT VARIATIONS

  • Super Workout: A slightly harder workout than normal.

  • Team Workout: You do your workout with one or more partners.

  • Chipper Workout: A harder workout that emphasizes strength gain.

TRAINING VARIATIONS

  • Goals: We work on strength, agility, and stamina goals and record our performance and personal bests on the PB sheets.

  • Footwork: We focus on footwork for the session, improving technique, stamina, and speed.

  • Alternate Rules: We modify the rules to better emphasize different skills and strategies, especially ones we’ve been learning about in recent sessions.

  • Advanced Weapons: We break out the advanced weapon systems including the crossguarded Ren Saber and the dual-wielded Tano Sabers.

ACTIVITY VARIATIONS

  • Games Night: We spend most of the evening playing fencing-based and related games including saber dodgeball!

  • Alternate Leagues: We borrow rules from other systems from around the world and give them a spin.

  • Alternate Weapons: We mix our usual plastic up with steel and foam, playing with epees & oly sabers, padded swords, and electronic knives.

COMMITTED FENCING SESSIONS

On these nights there is less focus on learning and more on just fencing!

  • Team Fight Night: We organize into teams and have one huge bout for the night.

  • Low Light Bout Night: We turn the lights all the way down, crank the music way up, and just fence for the evening.

  • Practice Tournament: A casual competitive event mimicking a real tournament, with opportunities to practice fencing as well as reffing.
